Engineering notes

A few things we always check — and what code references we follow.

CMU monuments get vertical and horizontal reinforcing sized for wind overturning plus seismic where applicable.

Spread footings are sized for soil bearing capacity (default 1,500 psf if no geotech provided).

Frost depth is set per local code — coordinate with your permit office for confirmed depth.

How it works

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about monument signs and engineering.

What construction types do you engineer for monuments?+

We design monument signs in CMU (concrete masonry), brick veneer, stucco over CMU or steel frame, EIFS, solid poured concrete, and pre-cast panels.

Do you include the footing design?+

Yes. Every monument sign package includes a spread footing design sized for the site's soil bearing capacity and frost depth requirements.

What if I don't have a soil report?+

We use a conservative default soil bearing capacity of 1,500 psf when no geotechnical report is available. The permit office may require a site-specific report for larger signs.

Can you design custom shapes?+

Yes. We engineer custom monument shapes including arched tops, stepped profiles, and multi-plane configurations.
